Major Gainers and Losers on March 14; SAVE, VHC, DYN, TSLA, IBM, WMT, CVX

Shares of Spirit Airlines Incorporated (NASDAQ: SAVE), an airline company that provides services principally throughout the domestic U.S., have edged higher in trading today. At last check, SAVE shares were trading 2.89% higher at $24.79 on above average volume of 1.23 million. The stock hit a 52-week high of $25.64 earlier today. In the last three trading sessions, SAVE shares have gained more than 4%.

SAVE shares have risen sharply in trading today after analysts at Cowen raised their price target on the stock from $23 to $28. Cowen analysts currently have a Buy rating on the stock.

Shares of VirnetX Holding Corporation (AMEX: VHC), a company engaged in the business of commercializing a portfolio of patents, are sinking in trading today. At last check, VHC shares were trading 29.63% lower at $25.10 on above average volume of 6.68 million. The stock fell to an intra-day low of $23.24 earlier in the day.

Shares of Dynegy Inc. (NYSE: DYN) have risen sharply in trading today. At last check, DYN shares were trading 9.51% higher at $22.10 on above average volume of 3.06 million. The stock rose to a 52-week high of $22.21 earlier today. DYN shares have gained more than 12% in the last three trading sessions.

DYN shares are gaining momentum after the company reported its financial results for the fourth quarter. The company reported a net loss of $107 million, or $1.07 per share for the quarter. The company’s loss from continuing operations for the quarter stood at $113 million, or $1.13 per share. The company reported revenue of $312 million.

Shares of Tesla Motors Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA), an electric vehicles and components manufacturer, are down sharply in trading today. At last check, the stock was trading 5.08% lower at $37 on volume of 1.62 million. The stock fell to an intra-day low of $36.86 earlier today.

Shares of International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM), an information technology company, have edged higher in trading today. At last check, IBM shares were trading 1.76% higher at $215.80 on above average volume of 4.48 million. The stock rose to a 52-week high of $215.85 earlier in the day.

Shares of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT), the world’s biggest retailer, edged lower in trading on Thursday. The stock closed 0.60% lower at $73.21 on volume of 4.94 million. The stock fell to an intra-day low of $73.13 earlier in the day. Despite the pullback today, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. shares have gained 0.32% in the last three trading sessions.

Shares of Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX), a San Ramon, California-based oil and gas company, rose in trading today. The stock was up 1.39% to $120 on above average volume of 5.98 million, at last check. CVX shares rose to a 52-week high of $120.26 earlier in the day. CVX shares gained on Thursday after analysts at Morgan Stanley raised their price target on the stock on expectations of growth.
