Major Movers on February 7; VSAT, AKAM, ATML, DV, BG, ORLY

Shares of ViaSat Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT), a provider of high-speed fixed and mobile broadband services, advanced satellite and wireless networks and secure networking systems, products and services, are seeing a huge rally in trading today after the company reported its third-quarter financial results.

VSAT shares are currently trading 22.27% higher at $48.59 on above average volume of 928,438. The stock rose to a 52-week high of $48.94 earlier today. In the last one year, VSAT shares have gained more than 5.5%.

Shares of Akamai Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), a provider of content delivery and cloud infrastructure services for the delivery of content and applications over the Internet, are sinking in trading today after the company reported weaker than expected fourth-quarter revenue.

At last check, AKAM shares were trading 15.61% lower at $35.09 on above average volume of 20 million. The stock fell to an intra-day low of $33.55 earlier today.

Another major loser in mid-day trading today is Atmel Corporation (NASDAQ: ATML), a designer, developer and supplier of microcontrollers. Shares of the San Jose, California-based company are sinking after it reported its fourth-quarter financial results.

For the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2012, ATML reported revenue of $345.1 million, down 4% over the previous quarter and 10% over the same period in the previous year. The company reported GAAP net loss of $12.3 million, or $0.03 per share for the fourth quarter of 2012, compared to GAAP net income of $32.9 million, or $0.07 per share reported for the same period in the previous year.

Steve Laub, President and CEO of Atmel, noted that the company’s microcontroller business grew four consecutive quarters in what was a challenging year for the semiconductor industry.

ATML shares fell to an intra-day low of $6.15 earlier today. At last check, the stock was trading 13.17% lower at $6.20 on above average volume of 13.37 million.

Shares of DeVry Inc. (NYSE: DV), a provider of educational services, are seeing a huge rally in trading today after the Downers Grove, Illinois-based company reported its second-quarter financial results.

For the quarter ended December 31, 2012, DV reported revenue of $505 million, down 3.6% over the same period in the previous year. The company’s net income for the quarter was $50 million, up from $9 million reported for the same period in the previous year.

DV shares rose to an intra-day high of $32.20 earlier today. At last check, the stock was trading 19.75% higher at $31.28 on above average volume of 3.24 million.

Shares of Bunge Limited (NYSE: BG), a global agribusiness and food company, are down sharply in trading today after the company reported weaker-than-expected fourth-quarter earnings.

BG shares fell to an intra-day low of $71.57, and at last check, were down 9.07% to $72.18 on above average volume of 3.66 million.

Shares of O’Reilly Automotive Inc. (NASDAQ: ORLY), a specialty retailer of automotive aftermarket parts, tools, supplies, equipment and accessories in the U.S., are soaring in trading today after the company reported its fourth-quarter financial results.

At last check, ORLY shares were trading 8.93% higher at $100.86 on above average volume of 2.55 million. The stock hit an intra-day high of $102.77 earlier today.
