Major Gainers and Losers on September 7; SWHC, ADNC, BIOF, ULTA, INTC, LULU, AMD, CLF

Shares of Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation (NASDAQ: SWHC), a provider of products and services for safety, security, protection, and sport, rallied in trading today after the company reported record first-quarter fiscal 2013 financial results.

SWHC shares touched a 52-week high of $11 in trading today before finishing the day 11.89% higher at $10.07 on above average volume of 14.26 million. Year-to-date, SWHC shares have gained 130.96%, outperforming the S&P 500.

Shares of Audience Inc. (NASDAQ: ADNC), a provider of voice and audio solutions that improve voice quality and the user experience in mobile devices, plunged in trading today after the company said that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) is not likely to use its technology for the latest iPhone.

ADNC shares fell to a 52-week low of $5.80 in trading today before paring some of the losses to finish the day 63.41% lower at $6.90 on above average volume of 8.96 million. Year-to-date, ADNC shares have fallen 63.87%, underperforming the S&P 500.

Shares of BioFuel Energy Corp. (NASDAQ: BIOF), a producer and seller of ethanol and its co-products, rallied in trading today after hedge fund manager David Einhorn said in a regulatory filing that he raised his stake in the company.

BIOF shares rose to an intra-day high of $5.89 in trading today before finishing the day 57% higher at $4.71 on above average volume of 1.70 million. Year-to-date, BIOF shares have fallen 65.37%, underperforming the broad market.

Shares of Ulta Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance Inc. (NASDAQ: ULTA), a beauty retailer, rose sharply in trading today after the company reported solid second-quarter financial results.

ULTA shares rose to a 52-week high of $103.52 in trading today before finishing the day 6.59% higher at $101.54 on above average volume of 3.12 million. Year-to-date, ULTA shares have gained 56.41%, outperforming the S&P 500.

Shares of Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC), a designer and manufacturer of integrated digital technology platforms, fell sharply in trading today after the company lowered its third-quarter revenue outlook due to weaker-than-expected demand in a challenging macroeconomic environment.

INTC shares fell to an intra-day low of $24.01 in trading today before finishing the day 3.61% lower at $24.19 on above average volume of 86.27 million. Year-to-date, INTC shares have fallen 0.25%, underperforming the S&P 500.

Shares of Lululemon Athletica Inc. (NASDAQ: LULU), a designer and retailer of technical athletic apparel operating in North America and Australia, rallied in trading today after the company reported a sharp rise in its second-quarter earnings.

LULU shares rose to an intra-day high of $77.60 in trading today before finishing the day 12.45% higher at $77.14 on above average volume of 17.12 million. Year-to-date, LULU shares have gained 65.32%, outperforming the S&P 500.

Shares of Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (NYSE: AMD), a global semiconductor company, fell sharply in trading today.

AMD shares fell to a 52-week low of $3.43 in trading today before finishing the day 5.74% lower at $3.45 on above average volume of 31.01 million. Year-to-date, AMD shares have fallen 36.10%, underperforming the S&P 500.

Shares of Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. (NYSE: CLF), an international mining and natural resources company, surged in trading today.

CLF shares rose to an intra-day high of $40.22 in trading today before finishing the day 14.49% higher at $39.91 on above average volume of 15.95 million. Year-to-date, CLF shares have fallen 35.99%, underperforming the S&P 500.
