Major Gainers and Losers on September 6; MW, OCZ, PAU, NAV, WXS, MXTX, AMZN, SHLD

Shares of The Men’s Wearhouse Inc. (NYSE: MW), a specialty retailer of men’s suits and a provider of tuxedo rental product in the U.S. and Canada, surged in trading today after the company reported its second-quarter financial results.

MW shares rose to an intra-day high of $38.08 in trading today before finishing the day 18.69% higher at $37.79 on above average volume of 3.50 million. Year-to-date, MW shares have gained 16.60%, outperforming the S&P 500.

Shares of OCZ Technology Group Inc. (NASDAQ: OCZ), a designer, manufacturer and distributor of solid-state drives (SSDs) and computer components, tumbled in trading after the company lowered its second-quarter revenue outlook.

OCZ shares fell to a 52-week low of $3.90 in trading today before finishing the day 18.84% lower at $4.35 on above average volume of 22.26 million. Year-to-date, OCZ shares have fallen 34.19%, underperforming the S&P 500.

Shares of VeriFone Systems Inc. (NYSE: PAY), a provider of solutions and services to the financial, retail, hospitality, petroleum, transportation, government, and healthcare vertical markets, also tumbled in trading today after reporting its third-quarter financial results.

PAY shares fell to an intra-day low of $30.37 in trading today before finishing the day 13.65% lower at $30.55 on above average volume of 15.87 million. Year-to-date, PAY shares have fallen 13.99%, underperforming the S&P 500.

Shares of Navistar International Corp. (NYSE: NAV), a Lisle, Illinois-based truck manufacturer, surged in trading today after the company reported its third-quarter financial results.

NAV shares rose to an intra-day high of $24.24 in trading today before finishing the day 17.44% higher at $23.97 on above average volume of 7.84 million. Year-to-date, NAV shares have fallen 36.72%, underperforming the S&P 500.

Shares of Wright Express Corp. (NYSE: WXS), a provider of value-based business payment processing and information management solutions, soared in trading today after the company entered into definitive agreement to acquire Fleet One.

WXS shares rose to a 52-week high of $73.50 in trading today before finishing the day 9.12% higher at $72.95 on above average volume of 1.06 million. Year-to-date, WXS shares have gained 34.4%, outperforming the S&P 500.

Shares of MarketAxess Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: MXTX), operator of an electronic trading platform that allows investment industry professionals to trade corporate bonds and other types of fixed-income instruments, plunged in trading today.

MXTX shares fell to an intra-day low of $29.90 in trading today before finishing the day 10.59% lower at $30.40 on above average volume of 1.05 million. Year-to-date, the stock has gained 0.96%, underperforming the S&P 500.

Shares of Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN), an online retailer, rose sharply in trading today after the company unveiled new Kindle Fire tablet.

AMZN shares rose to an all-time high of $252.70 in trading today before finishing the day 2.10% higher at $251.38 on above average volume of 5.30 million. Year-to-date, AMZN shares have gained 45.22%, outperforming the S&P 500.

Shares of Sears Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ: SHLD), a retailer, surged in trading today.

SHLD shares rose to an intra-day high of $57.72 in trading today before finishing the day 10.09% higher at $57.37 on above average volume of 3.06 million. Year-to-date, the stock has gained 80.52%, outperforming the S&P 500.
