Social Media Stocks on Watch; Zynga Inc. (ZNGA), Facebook Inc. (FB), Groupon Inc. (GRPN), LinkedIn Corp. (LNKD), Renren Inc. (RENN), SINA Corp.

Shares of Zynga Inc. (NASDAQ: ZNGA), a social gaming company engaged in the development, marketing and operation of online social games as live services played over the Internet and on social networking sites and mobile platforms, rose marginally in trading on Friday.

ZNGA shares rose 0.62% to end the day at $3.27 on volume of 9.49 million. The stock has gained more than 10% in the last three trading sessions. ZNGA shares are down more than 65% since the company completed its IPO in December 2011.

According to a Bloomberg report, a number of Zynga executives have resigned from the company this month.

Shares of Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ: FB), a social network enabling users to stay connected with their friends and family, fell marginally in trading on Friday.

FB shares ended the day 0.16% lower at $19.41 on volume of 29.62 million. The stock is up more than 1% in the last three trading sessions. FB shares have fallen more than 48% since the company completed its much-awaited IPO in May 2012.

The Federal Trade Commission recently approved Facebook’s acquisition of Instagram.

Groupon Inc. (NASDAQ: GRPN), a local e-commerce marketplace connecting merchants to consumers by offering goods and services at a discount, fell sharply in trading on Friday.

GRPN shares ended the day 1.66% lower at $4.44 on volume of 8.46 million. The stock fell to an intra-day low of $4.41 on Friday. GRPN shares have fallen nearly 2% in the last three trading sessions. GRPN shares have fallen 83% since the company completed its IPO in November 2011.

Groupon recently reported disappointing second-quarter financial results.

Shares of LinkedIn Corporation (NYSE: LNKD), a professional networking site with over 90 million members in more than 200 countries and territories, fell marginally in trading on Friday.

LNKD shares ended 0.29% lower at $105.11 on volume of 1.67 million. The stock fell to an intra-day low of $104.38 on Friday. LNKD shares fell 0.13% in the last three trading sessions. Year-to-date, LNKD shares have gained more than 66%, outperforming the S&P 500.

LNKD shares have gained more than 12% since the company completed its IPO in May 2011.

Earlier this month, LinkedIn reported its second-quarter financial results, posting an 88.5% year-over-year increase in revenue.

Shares of Renren Inc. (NYSE: RENN), operator of a real name social networking Internet platform in the People’s Republic of China, dropped in trading on Friday.

RENN shares fell 1.01% to end the day at $3.92 on volume of 859,134. The stock fell to an intra-day low of $3.86 on Friday. It fell 1.75% in the last three trading sessions. Year-to-date, RENN shares have gained more than 10%, underperforming the S&P 500.

RENN shares are down more than 76% since the company completed its IPO in May 2011.

Renren recently reported its second-quarter financial results.

Shares of SINA Corp. (NASDAQ: SINA), an online media company serving China and the global Chinese communities through its digital media network of SINA.com, SINA.cn and Weibo.com, rose marginally in trading on Friday.

SINA shares rose 0.21% to end the day at $56.21 on volume of 1.53 million. The stock touched an intra-day high of $56.80 on Friday, and has gained more than 1.6% in the last three trading sessions.

Year-to-date, SINA shares have gained more than 8%, underperforming the S&P 500.

SINA Corp. recently reported better-than-expected second-quarter financial results.
