Market is Abuzz with Speculation on Facebook’s Phone (FB)

Speculation is rife that social networking giant, Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ: FB) will soon launch its own version of Android phone, a device which is expected to directly provide access to Facebook. In other words, there will no need to download Facebook app.

According to Forbes,  “Android Police”, which claims to have specific information on Facebook’s phone said on Monday that Facebook’s device will be HTC Phone, codenamed “Myst”.

The report published by the “Android Police” explains about the operating system and how it is “tweaked” for Facebook, according to Forbes.

It also includes specifics of Facebook “Home” software designed solely for Facebook.

Just last week, many news journals such as the Wall Street Journal, TechCrunch also reported that Facebook would soon announce launching its own  version of Android  phone, which would be compatible with HTC mobile device.

Should Facebook bring its own device in the smartphone market then it will be a change from its own public stand. Although Facebook was asked on several occasions before about its plans to launch its own mobile or operating system, the Company declined saying that it was not keen.

Earlier in July, Facebook Inc’s Chief Executive and founder, Mark Zuckerberg said to analysts in earnings call that the Company wasn’t keen in launching it oven version of mobile device, adding that “most-used application (Facebook app) on basically every mobile platform.”

Back then Zuckerberg  also added that Facebook yearned that users are able to get the best experience on all devices apart from its desire that all users are on mobile devices.

“We want to increase the depth of experience in addition to just growing users,”said Zuckerberg at that moment, adding that making a whole new phone “ really wouldn’t make much sense for us to do.”
