Shares of Qlik Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: QLIK), a Radnor, Pennsylvania-based company providing business intelligence solution, saw a huge rally in trading on Friday after the company posted better-than-expected financial results for the fourth quarter of 2012.
QLIK shares rose to a 52-week high of $27.55 on Friday before finishing the day 17.89% higher at $26.83 on above average volume of 9.20 million. Year-to-date, QLIK shares have gained 23.53%, outperforming the broad market.
Another major gainer in trading on Friday was Millennial Media Inc. (NYSE: MM), a mobile advertising platform company helping developers maximize their advertising revenue. Shares of the Baltimore, Maryland-based company surged ahead of the release of its fourth-quarter financial results. The company will report its quarterly results on Tuesday, February 19, 2013.
MM shares rose to an intra-day high of $14.37 on Friday. The stock ended the day 13.96% higher at $14.20 on above average volume of 3.03 million.
Shares of Ruckus Wireless Inc. (NYSE: RKUS), a provider of Wi-Fi solutions, continued to slide in trading on Friday. RKUS shares fell to an intra-day low of $19.50 on Friday before finishing the day 13.84% lower at $19.61 on above average volume of 2.13 million. The stock has fallen 24.2% in the last three trading sessions.
The sell-off in RKUS shares has been sparked after the company earlier in the week reported its fourth-quarter financial results. For the fourth quarter, RKUS reported non-GAAP net income of $0.07 per share, flat from the previous year. The company’s earnings for the quarter fell short of consensus forecast of $0.05 per share.
Shares of Kronos Worldwide Inc. (NYSE: KRO), a global producer and marketer of titanium dioxide pigments, also tumbled in trading on Friday after the company announced its preliminary results for the fourth quarter of 2012.
Kronos expects net sales for the quarter to come in at $397.8 million, which compares to net sales of $437.4 million reported for the same period in the previous year. The company said that decrease in net sales was mainly due to a 14% drop in average TiO2 selling prices, which partially offset by a 6% increase in sales volumes.
KRO shares fell to an intra-day low of $17.93 on Friday before finishing the day 7.22% lower at $17.99 on above average volume of 713,081.
Shares of Westport Innovations Inc. (NASDAQ: WPRT), a provider of engine and fuel system technologies using gaseous fuels, rallied in trading on Friday. WPRT shares rose to an intra-day high of $31.70 on Friday before finishing the day 7.94% higher at $31.54 on above average volume of 2.40 million. Year-to-date, the stock has gained 18.08%, outperforming the broad market.
Shares of Campbell Soup Company (NYSE: CPB), a manufacturer and marketer of branded convenience food products, rose sharply in trading on Friday after the company reported its second-quarter financial results.
CPB shares rose to an intra-day high of $39.69 on Friday before finishing the day 1.76% higher at $39.40 on above average volume of 3.75 million. Year-to-date, the stock has gained 12.93%, outperforming the broad market.
